AMSA at IUPUI Premedical Chapter

Hey Everyone!

We’re reaching the end of the semester so it’s time to hold elections! The positions that will need filled are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, IUSM Liaison, Social Committee Chair, Recruiting Chair, AMSA National Liaison, and Student Government Representative. If you have questions about any of these positions please e-mail me and I will send you a copy of the officer duties for the position you are interested in. In order to hold an officer position you must be a member in good standing. Your membership status will be checked upon recieving your election profile. Your profile should include your picture and answer the following questions. Why do you want to hold this position in AMSA Pre-medical at IUPUI? What skills do you possess or experiences have you had that could contribute to your success in this position? Please send your elections profiles to my e-mail as soon as possible! I would like to have them all no later than April 14th so they all can be posted for viewing the 15th. I’m so sorry about this short notice. I will be posting them on our board in the SL/LD lobby on the second floor as I recieve them. I will also be posting them all on our website www.amsa-iupui.org. We will be holding elections April 20th. I will send an e-mail closer to the date of the meeting with the time and room number. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Hello everyone!

Our first meeting for fall semester will be September 8, 2009  at 1:30pm in University Library (UL) 1116. This meeting will provide information about AMSA, so come learn more about us and bring any questions that you would like answered! In addition, Leslie Baker with Kaplan will be present to give information about the free practice MCAT Kaplan is offering on September 19, 2009. As always, there will be free food!

AMSA is a great organization that offers the opportunity to get involved on our campus in a way that will benefit our professional goals. There will also be many volunteer opportunities available throughout the semester, as well as access to IUSM and other professional schools and their facilities.

We hope to see you at the meeting!

We had a great turn-out for our last meeting of the semester with 35 in attendance. Thank you all for joining us. We had a terrific guest speaker, Calvin Roberson from the Indiana Minority Health Coalition (IMHC). If you would like to follow up on his presentation or learn more about volunteer opportunities with IMHC, please contact Calvin. His contact information is included with the meeting minutes.

We also heard from Leslie Baker regarding Kaplan’s MCAT prep course. We ended the day with a silent auction for one of the Kaplan courses. Our winner was Jacob Beerbower. Congratulations Jacob, and good luck on your upcoming MCAT!

Hello AMSA members and potential guests! This is a friendly reminder that our last meeting of this semester is coming up. We’ll meet at the IUPUI University Library on Tuesday the 14th at noon, room UL 1116. Calvin Roberson of the Indiana Minority Health Coalition will be our guest speaker. In addition, we’ll be auctioning off a Kaplan MCAT prep course, valued at $1799.00, to the highest bidder (sealed-bid auction).
